Wine Harvest Glamping: The Napa Activity You Must Try

Of the many ways to indulge in harvest season in the Napa Valley—squishing grapes between your toes, four-figure winemaker dinners, vertical tastings—one thing has been shamefully off-limits to most: sleeping among the vines. Visitors sometimes feel a subtle disconnect from the nature-loving side of wine tasting as a result, driving to each winery before parking at an inn somewhere away from the vineyards.

This year, however, it’s possible to station yourself smack in the middle of the vineyards to end your day amid the harvest. Starting mid-November, luxury safari glamping tents will pop up on the lush grounds of Pope Valley Winery, thanks to Terravelo Tours. Located at the northern edge of Napa Valley, you can bed down in one of nine tents situated among the winery’s sangiovese, merlot, and petite syrah vineyards backed by oak-studded hills, and rise to sunrise yoga and other pre-planned activities offered throughout the day.

A personal chef is on-hand to prepare wine country-inspired meals and the resident winemaker will conduct educational tastings, pouring wine throughout the stay. Sober up with a hike or bike ride in the surrounding areas, go truffle hunting, or watch a blacksmith demonstration at the winery’s vintage blacksmith workshop—all are on offer. After dusk, live jazz around the campfire kicks off with gourmet s’mores, and an astronomer will lull you to bed with tales of the stars.
