A Wilmington nonprofit to celebrate 'Generations of Generosity.' Here's what to know.
The United Way of the Cape Fear Area presents the Generations of Generosity event, a fundraising celebration to show gratitude for their supporters.
"We are deeply excited to share an evening of gratitude with our attendees. We haven’t been able to host a fundraiser like this since 2019," said Tommy Taylor, CEO of United Way of the Cape Fear Area. "This event will not only kick off our campaign year, but it is a tribute to the countless individuals who have given their time, talent, and treasure to support our mission throughout the years."
What is Generations of Generosity Campaign Kickoff?
Generations of Generosity Campaign Kickoff is a United Way of the Cape Fear Area fundraising event. The event serves as a kickoff to its campaign season. The event allows community members to gather in a fun and celebratory atmosphere while giving back to programs that need United Way's services the most. It is also an opportunity to celebrate some of the nonprofit's longest serving volunteers and honored guests, such as the Red Feather Society — a legacy honoring the past board and campaign chairs.
When will it be held?
The event will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center at 10 Convention Center Drive in downtown Wilmington. The deadline to RSVP is Wednesday, Aug. 21. Tickets are available at https://uwcfa.org/events/

Guests can dress casually or dress up. But for this celebratory event, guests are encouraged to dress in a style relevant to their favorite era of fashion ― whether it be the elegant 50s, the swinging 60s, the groovy 70s, the bold 80s or the flashy 90s.
How and who does the event benefit?
The United Way’s fundraising efforts are critical to addressing the needs of communities from a holistic approach. While one organization may support a family with food insecurity, another may provide rental assistance, and another may provide employment opportunities. United Way of the Cape Fear Area has, for over 80 years, helped with fundraising to address all the needs of underserved people in New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, and Columbus counties.
The money raised by the United Way means that more nonprofits can receive the benefit of financial stability and assistance. United Way helps to alleviate that burden for the over 40 nonprofit partners by bringing together government, business, and nonprofit to unite United Way efforts and leverage their resources.
