Willowick Public Library hosting Prohibition-themed event
May 1—Willowick Public Library invites the public to sneak into its library-themed speakeasy for an evening of Prohibition-themed programming from 3:30 to 8 p.m. May 18.
The schedule of events will be:
4 p.m. — Sample and learn how to make Prohibition-appropriate mocktails
4:30 p.m. — Michael Williams, of Great Lakes Brewing, will discuss the history of Cleveland brewing
5:30 p.m. — Author Rick Porrello will discuss his book "The Rise and Fall of the Cleveland Mafia"
6:45 p.m. — Watch the Fred Astaire Dancers perform to Jazz music
Samples of mocktails will be provided throughout the evening, according to a news release.
The W-E Library Boosters will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win several gift baskets. Winners will be announced at the event and need not be present to win.
Tickets are $1 each, six for $5 or 30 for $20. Cash only.
All proceeds will be used to fund library programs, the release stated.
To register and receive a ticket and secret password for admittance, visit a Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library. Tickets must be presented at the door on the day of the event, the release stated.
