The Brief: Since adopting my rescue pup, Jet, this past summer, I've undergone a crash course in weeding out the bullsh*t when it comes to pet gear that just doesn't work.
Having a 40-pound pit bull mix means that we do a minimum of four walks daily, which also means at least four games of putting on and then taking off Jet's collar, harness, leash, and other walking gear. After trying several brands from Amazon out of sheer convenience, I quickly realized that a lot of pet brands cut corners when it comes to quality and long-term use.
Then I discovered Wild One — a Brooklyn-based pet-gear brand that makes functional accessories, healthy treats, and grooming essentials so that your dog can walk, play, and live in style. Needless to say, Jet's life has gotten so much better since this sweet discovery.
You've probably spotted Wild One on Instagram without even realizing it. Don't get it twisted — this is the genius of the brand: They are minimalists in the best, smartest way. Wild One's functional, understated pet accessories seamlessly blend into virtually any aesthetic while also standing out from the pack, so to speak, thanks to their thoughtful, modern, and highly functional design. I can spot a Wild One harness from a block away, and I know that dog knows they're living the good life, too.
I've tried a selection of products across every category from the brand, from grooming essentials like the eucalyptus and peppermint natural Conditioning Shampoo and hypoallergenic Grooming Wipes to their natural rubber chew toys.
For this review, I'm focusing on Wild One's Harness, as this has gotten the most mileage from day one, and I get stopped all the time by other pet owners who ask me where I got it. This harness comes in eight chic colors for dogs of all sizes. After fumbling my way through several difficult-to-use harnesses, I appreciate the easy-to-snap torso buckles, adjustable woven nylon straps, and the soft, stretchy poly base of the Wild One Harness. Jet requires a slightly heavier leash and chunkier collar since he moonlights as a squirrel hunter, but I've fallen in love with this harness and use it no fewer than four times a day.
Closing Argument: I recommend just about every single product I've tried from Wild One, but if I had to pick one standout item, it's this smart Wild One Harness. At under $50, this is a steal and a wise investment for any discerning dog parent. Start with the harness, then once you're hooked, I guarantee you'll be back for more matching pet essentials.
