Why Zendaya Skipped the 2023 Golden Globes Red Carpet
The Golden Globes are back in the spotlight after a pretty controversial couple of years, and some fresh new faces are nominated—including Zendaya for Best Actress In a Television Series. But it looks like Zendaya decided to skip the red carpet this year—though technically she could still show up to accept her award, even virtually.
Zendaya was last seen in public with her Euphoria costars at an event held at Paramount Theatre on December 18—so she was recently in Los Angeles! But hey, maybe she's busy working on a new project and just couldn't make the Globes.
Zendaya is obviously nominated for her work on Euphoria, which is gearing up for the release of its upcoming third season. Zendaya spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her hopes for Rue in Season 3, saying she wants her to experience “a little bit of happiness and a little bit of joy.”
“And I know that she can do it because Sam wrote it, and Sam is Rue, and he’s done it,” Zendaya added, referencing Euphoria's creator Sam Levinson. “He’s proof that there is hope for Rue and anyone like Rue, and from the beautiful letters and people who have reached out — I am so grateful for those experiences when somebody comes up to me, and they speak about Rue and how they’ve connected to her or whatever part of their healing journey she has been able to be a part of. To me that is the greatest, greatest gift I can ever ask, it gives me euphoria and purpose in what I do.”
Welp. I'll just be here like this for the rest of the show:
