Why Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Skipped This Year's Oscars
After making their much-awaited debut as a couple at the Grammy Awards this year, Mr. and Mrs. Affleck decided to skip the 2023 Oscars.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were not present at tonight's award show, held at Los Angeles' Dolby Theater. While neither was nominated for an award, their presence on the red-carpet at Hollywood events is always expected. (Never forget when Affleck's gloomy expression went viral at the Grammys and Lopez trolled him for it on Instagram.)
But despite the fact that they were not at the ceremony in person tonight, Lopez showed that she was there in spirit. On her Instagram Story today, she shared a slideshow of her favorite Oscars looks over the years, including the dreamy teal gown she wore during her and Affleck's joint appearance at the 75th Annual Academy Awards in 2003—before the two called off their engagement a year later.
It's unclear why the now-married singer and actor opted to stay home this time around, but they have both been busy with different projects. Lopez is preparing for the release of her album This Is Me... Now, which was inspired by her love for Affleck; while he is getting ready for the release of him film Air, a biographical sports drama which he directed and stars in. At the same time, the two are also looking for a new home for their blended family. They were recently spotted looking at a beautiful property in the Pacific Palisades.
