Where to Ski on July 4th, 2024
Summer is here, whether you're enjoying the mild breezes of the East Coast, or battling intense, dry heat spells in the gut of America's lower regions.
That being said, there are a few places you can still make a couple turns. Skiing on July 4th is not only possible worldwide, it's possible right here in North America. See below.
Timberline Lodge, Oregon is the obvious first mention. Hey, the place runs 10 out of 12 months out of the year. Currently, conditions are 54 degrees F (really, when you think about it, an average spring day at many West Coast resorts). Lifts operate daily from 8am to 2pm, weather permitting.
There is a base depth of 44 inches of snow at the resort, and the ski area has received 611 inches of snow since September 1st of 2023.
Two out of three of their terrain parks are open, and two lifts are running.
Timberline recently dubbed their June "Juneuary" because of how good the skiing was in, well, June.
Next, we have Copper Mountain, Colorado's summer hike park. The park made its annual debut on June 7th, about a month ago, and will stay open "for as long as conditions allow". The park offers a variety of features, but no lift, as it is a hike park.
Tickets to hike and ski the park run a skier $25. The park is open selected days of the week: Friday through Sunday, but has extensive hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Powder's Ian Greenwood earlier reported that a representative from Copper Mountain told POWDER via email that its park crew, which constructs the separate, four-acre Woodward Summer Camp on-mountain summer terrain park each year, is "very experienced" at snow farming and constructing a park that survives through summer.
They also reported that the resort is "optimistic" that the park will remain open for the entire summer, or through September 8th, but they cannot say with 100% certainty as of right now.

Lastly, there is one indoor ski area in the U.S. we would be sorely skimping out of this list by not mentioning.
Aptly named the "Big Snow American Dream", located in New Jersey, Big Snow is an indoor skiing and snowboarding park within the American Dream shopping and entertainment complex at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Big Snow American Dream is the first indoor ski park in North America, and it opened on December 5th of 2019.
The name alone makes it worth visiting. When foreigners say they "love the U.S." they are usually talking about New York, California, Texas, and maybe Colorado or one of those middle states sprinkled in there.
Now, visitors have somewhere slightly outside of New York to go which rivals experiences possible in Dubai: namely, skiing in July.
