'Wheel of Fortune' Fans Are Displeased With Another Puzzle That Made 'Zero Sense'

Wheel of Fortune's new season may have only just kicked off, but season 41 of the game show has already hit a hot spot with fans–not once, but twice.

Earlier this week, Parade reported on what viewers dubbed a "horrible" puzzle that caused one contestant to lose out on $50,000. Now, fans are coming to the defense of another player after a different puzzle stifled her chances of winning a brand-new car.

Laryn Nelson, an elementary school principal from Atlanta, took the stage during Wednesday night's show and won over viewers–as well as host Pat Sajak–with her enthusiasm. She was quite comfortable on stage, cheering on and chatting with other contestants and playfully getting into it with Sajak between puzzles.

"I’m talking now, Laryn; it’s my turn," Sajak teased at one point. "You’re out of control. You’re beating our set; you’re yelling at the wheel."

"I’m enjoying myself," Nelson replied.

Sajak later quipped that he "threatened to send Laryn to the principal’s office, but she’s the principal."

After earning $24,250 during Wheel's regular play, "the woman of the half-hour," as Sajak called her, headed to the bonus round, and that's where things took a turn.

Nelson selected the “What Are You Doing?” category, and after the free letters and chosen letters were applied, she faced the following puzzle: "_ _ T _ I N I N G M _ G _ _ L S."

Able to work out the last word, "Goals," Nelson was stumped by the rest of the phrase, incorrectly guessing "Pitching my goals" as the timer ran out.

The correct answer? "Obtaining my goals."

“Oh my goodness. Alright. Alright. That’s okay. I’m gonna do that one day, though, obtaining my goals,” she said.

Sajak then opened the envelope containing her would-be prize, a new Volkswagen. Realizing her loss, she screamed and made Sajak jump.

Fans at home also felt the jump scare but blamed it on the puzzle, which some claim made "zero sense."

"What the heck is obtaining my goals?" a second social media user questioned. "Setting my goals. Meeting my goals. Achieving my goals."

"ATTAINING my goals, not OBTAINING!" another declared. "That was just wrong. She needs to be brought back to spin again."

"Obtaining my goals?? Attaining my goals would be the proper phrase. What a horrible prize puzzle," wrote a fourth.

Though she lost her chance at the car, she did go home with nearly $25,000 in winnings. She also made an everlasting impression on Sajak, who previously announced this will be his last season as WoF host.

"It’s all right, I’ll be fine," he said.

Wheel of Fortune airs weekdays on ABC.
