The Weeknd’s Rep Clarifies His Relationship Status With Bella Hadid
A rep for The Weeknd is now clarifying the dating rumors about him and Bella Hadid. The singer attended Hadid’s birthday party this week in New York, and reportedly left together, but a spokesperson for the singer told People “they just attended as friends.”
The Weeknd was at Hadid’s party, along with her friends and family, including her mother, Yolanda, and sister, Gigi. E! News reported that the two appeared to be more than just friends at the event.
“Abel met up with Bella last night for her third birthday celebration at L’Avenue. He was with her the entire night and they left together to go back to the apartment they both shared,” the source said. “You could tell that they were definitely in love and they both looked very happy being around each other.”
However, E! and TMZ both reported that he was invited just as a friend.
Hadid and The Weeknd have had an on-and-off relationship for years, first starting in 2015 when he asked her to be on the artwork for his album Beauty Behind the Madness, though she ultimately declined. The following year, they broke up due to scheduling conflicts, but reunited in the spring of 2018. This past August, however, they split again.
“They are in different places right now, physically and mentally,” a source told E! News. “Bella is prepping for her fashion week commitments and Abel is working on his music and his upcoming acting debut.”
