Celebrities typically stick to the usual glowing skin selfie or OOTD or promotion for an upcoming project. But last week, nestled in between a glossy magazine cover shoot and a parody video, Keke Palmer got real with her 10 million Instagram followers. Sharing a close-up photo on Instagram, Palmer shared her experience dealing with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) to remind those who are prone to breakouts and acne that they're not alone in the fight. Today, Palmer returned to Instagram to share the makeup routine she relies on to manage her skin condition.

"I've been dealing with acne and struggling with makeup and trying to cover it and all that stuff for a long time," she stated at the beginning of the nearly 14-minute long video. To prep her skin, Palmer used a light layer of Aquaphor and Caudalie Beauty Elixir to create a barrier for her skin before applying makeup. For the first step in her makeup application process, she picked up MAC Studio Fix Correction Palette to color correct with the orange shade. Palmer reached for two different Nars Radiant Creamy Concealers—one in Walnut and another in Ginger to color correct a bit more.

About halfway through the video, Palmer opened up about her on-set makeup horror stories, recalling times when makeup artists applied foundation shades that matched her acne scars instead of shades that matched her actual skin tone. "I had to learn how to do my makeup on my own to make sure I felt happy and comfortable. I had to find the best way to advocate for myself," she said. Palmer continued routine by applying M.A.C Cosmetics Pro Long Wear Foundation in NC 60 as a contour along with the high points of her cheeks and her forehead.

She added the finishing touches with MAC Dark Mineralizing Skin Finish and Lancome's Absolute Powder in Absolute Almonds. She then coated her cheeks in a soft pink eyeshadow because she ran out of blush. "I used eyeshadow cause I ran out, don’t do what I did. Be better than me," she joked in the caption of the video. A few coats of mascara and Palmer's flawless full coverage routine was complete.

Palmer's video was met with warm reviews from fans praising her for remaining authentic and transparent. "Love that you are so transparent.....?? I'm in the same boat!!!! Thank you for being you," one user wrote in Palmer's comments section. Shop every product from Palmer's full-coverage routine below.
