Watch: 'Not Stoked Blokes' Kai Lenny and Barton Lynch on the Aftermath of Maui Wildfires

The situation on Maui is horrific. Photos from the island look like scenes from an armageddon movie. As we've reported, residents continue to endure the aftermath of the wildfires that ravaged the island and destroyed Lahaina.

But according to Kai Lenny's on Barton Lynch's Stoked Bloke Show, we haven't been getting accurate reports of just how bad it is. He says the death toll is around a thousand, people are starving and looting, and local officials have blocked roads, preventing access to supplies.

Watch, or listen, to the podcast below for a Lenny's update on Maui's, and most importantly, the most effective and legit ways to help.

The video of the podcast above was captioned:

"This special edition of the Stoked Bloke Show looks at the devastation caused by the Maui Fires. BL and PK get it straight from ground zero with legendary waterman and Maui resident Kai Lenny who says the scale of the destruction and loss of life is hard to fathom and fears the worse is yet to be realised as the extent of the damage is properly understood."

We recommend listing to the entire 18-minute podcast, but here's a couple of heavy statements from Lenny:

  • "The death toll is, I don't know, bigger than anyone can imagine. I would even go as far to say it's in the thousand range. People were trapped in cars.

  • "It was basically a flame thrower through the town because the wind was so strong.

  • "It's been really impressive because the Maui community has made the biggest difference."

  • "I'd say the government's really fumbled the bag as they usually do."

  • "Entire families are laying on the street dead. Kids, everything."

  • "They're blocking all the roads so we had to go by boat and jet ski in order to get supplies to people who are cut off."

  • "It's just really bizarre. I don't know, they're trying to, like, maybe cover up the fact that it's ten times worse than people know."

  • "They're not helping, so we have to help."
