Watch Gabrielle Union Teach Daughter Kaavia to Love Her Moles in Adorable New TikTok
Gabrielle Union shared an adorable TikTok in which she teaches daughter Kaavia James to love the moles on her skin.
“It’s not bothering anyone, so you just leave it,” Union explained to her 2-year-old.
Union is passionate about teaching her daughter—and other women in her life—to practice unapologetic self-love.
Just when you thought Gabrielle Union’s mother-daughter content with her 2-year-old Kaavia James couldn’t get any cuter, she shares something even more precious. The 48-year-old actress prioritizes teaching her daughter compassion and self-love, which is exemplified by her latest TikTok where she explained to Kaavia what moles are while celebrating their own speckles.
The duo waded in the pool when Kaavia pointed at Union’s chest, inquiring about a small dark mark. “Mommy has a lot of moles,” Union explained. “I’ve got moles on my face.” Kaavia gasped with intrigue, touching her face in search of her own. “I not had a mole,” she said, shaking her head. “Well, I think you have a couple,” Union replied.
Kaavia concurred, pointing to her mouth, to which Union said, “No, that’s your lip.” Then, she lifted her daughter’s foot from the water. “Oh, there’s your mole,” she said. “Yeah, but see, it’s not bothering anyone so you just leave it.”
“Leave it?” Kaavia asked.
“It’s a part of you,” Union nodded, pointing to their respective dots. “So that’s Kaav’s mole and Mom’s mole.”
Kaavia grew excited by the discovery. “We got moles!” she cheered. Union echoed, “Yes we got moles!”
At the beginning of the clip, Union wrote that she was “teaching her to love every part of herself.”
The internet loved the sweet moment, and even felt encouraged by it. “Adorable. We all have moles! They make us unique!” Dr. Pimple Popper Sandra Lee commented. “I love this! I grew up hating mine and they’re one of my biggest insecurities. This is how I'll explain them to my kids knowing they have them too??,” another wrote. "”This lesson is everything. Such beautiful parenting,” someone else added.
Union reshared the clip on Kaavia’s Instagram page, writing: “??PSA?? If your moles change size or shape, don’t make a TikTok, make a [doctor’s] appointment.”
Over the summer, Union spent some time away from her family filming her latest project, The Perfect Find. It was admittedly hard to be separated from Kaavia, but she’s learning to give herself grace while trying to find the elusive work-motherhood balance.
“Being away from her is the hardest part of working away from home,” she captioned a clip of her and Kaavia sitting close and chatting on a boat. “But watching this video on repeat reminds me that @kaaviajames thinks her mom is good. And I am.”
