Like any good explorer of uncharted terrain, sometimes you luckily stumble on riches. In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—finds buried treasure: a cyst hidden next to an extracted blackhead. Get ready for a welcomed surprise with this pop.
The clip begins right after Dr. Lee removes a patient's blackhead. But even after the removal, the famed derm feels a firm growth under the skin. Dr. Lee identifies it quickly—a cyst buried right next to the growth. With several firm squeezes, Dr. Lee extracts clumpy white gunk from the hidden cyst.
Dr. Lee then turns her effort to getting the sac out, ensuring the cyst doesn’t return. But that task proves to be a tad more difficult than expected. The derm has to use a surgical punch to reach the buried sac, pulling it out with ease.
As one commenter puts it, “When in doubt, get the punch out!” That's what I always say.
The cyst is likely an epidermoid cyst, which contains a collection of wet dead skin cells and keratin. Epidermoid cysts like this one often occur on the face, neck and body.
