Stop and smell the blooming blackheads. In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—pops dry, stubborn dilated pore of Winer that looks like a tiny blooming flower. And this big blackhead isn’t going down without a fight.
In the clip, Dr. Lee attacks the blackhead with a comedone extractor, hoping to push out the contents with a firm hand. While the black cap of the dilated pore of Winer does come off, the gunk underneath won’t budge because of its dry composition. That’s when Dr. Lee decides to go back in with a pair of surgical tweezers, finally removing a plug of white compacted contents. The resulting gunk looks something like a teeny white baby’s breath flower bud.
Dr. Lee explained in the video's caption that she posted this particular clip after fans requested a DPOW video. And the gesture was appreciated.
“Thanks for giving us creeps our fix,” one fan commented on the video.
A blackhead of this size is commonly called a dilated pore of Winer. A dilated pore of Winer is essentially a large blackhead compacted in a single enlarged pore. This means the crater left behind by this extraction is actually a single pore that has been stretched from the contents gathering inside.
