How to Watch All the DC Movies in Order, Because They Have Lots Coming Up in the Fall

The next movie in the DC Extended Universe film series (DCEU for short), won't be until the fall, when Black Adam makes an introduction in October. That means now's the perfect time for a DCEU top-to-bottom rewatch, so you can brush up on how the puzzle pieces of the Justice League fit together, and how they've fought evil across time. But if you can't remember your Aquaman from your Shazam!, no worries — here is a guide to watch the DC movies in order, including how to stream them online.

This list only includes movies that are included in the current iteration of the Justice League and its assorted heroes and villains. Movies based on DC characters have been around for decades — and we've included a handy list of Superman and Batman movies for further viewing — but that doesn't mean they're all part of the DCEU. Here are the movies that are.

What is the correct order of the DC movies?

That depends on personal preference. In general, it's always best go with the release order, listed below. That's the way the studios planned for audiences to see them, and so information is revealed in those movies accordingly.

But really, you can take them in whatever order you'd like. Watching the DC movies in a row is different from something like watching the Marvel movies in order, because — for now, at least — they are even more loosely affiliated. While it's probably best to watch Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad before Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey, for example, you don't necessarily need to watch either of them to understand what's happening in Wonder Woman or Wonder Woman 1984. As the movies continue, the connections may tighten, but use this as your permission to skip if you so desire.

Then again, if you're looking for a second go-round, it might be fun to try and piece together the events of the movies into the order in which the events took place. Luckily, the DC movie chronology isn't as scrambled as the X-Men or Marvel movies. To watch the events of the movies in chronological order, the sequence is basically the same, with Wonder Woman's era-appropriate films pushed to the front.
