In the cold and wintry months, your bedroom can turn into what feels like an icebox. While most of us love sleeping with cooling sheets nearly all other times of the year, their breathable, warmth-wicking properties can work a little too well when the room is already cold.
Enter winter sheets: your ticket to a toasty, cozy bed without wrestling with bulky layers or heated blankets.
The Best Warm Sheets:
What to Consider
Material type
When it comes to choosing the best winter sheets possible for your bed, you can’t go wrong with a cotton material. Whether it’s flannel, jersey, or a blend featuring a premium material like cashmere, cotton sheets offer you the best of both worlds in the wintertime — plenty of insulation with enough breathability to prevent you from overheating.
Microfiber material is another option that tends to be much more affordable. However, it doesn't offer as much airflow as cotton, so bear this in mind if you're a hot sleeper.
Heavier duvet cover = extra warmth
You'll also want to consider whether a duvet set is in your budget. We highly recommend swapping out your usual duvet cover for a warmer material like cotton flannel during the colder months: It'll make your down comforter feel like it's enveloping you in a hug every time you curl into it.
Sizing
Most of the warm sheets in this guide are available in sizes twin through California king (and beyond!), though we've denoted the price for queen-sized sheets throughout.
As with all types of sheets, you'll want to check the washing instructions to ensure that they can be washed and dried with the rest of your laundry. You may want to dry these types of sheets on a lower heat setting to prevent excessive shrinking, especially if you sleep with a tall mattress.
Even if you never imagined being the type of person who owns designated winter sheets, these incredible bedding sets will make you wonder ... why not? It's time to switch over your linen staples for the season with these buttery-soft and irresistibly warm sheets.
