A Walk in the Park is an ongoing series from State Journal photographer Nick King, who intends to explore Lansing area parks one hour at a time. If you have a suggestion of a park he should visit, email him at [email protected].
LANSING — Technically considered part of Crego Park, Kruger’s Landing is an experience of its own.
The landing, located on the east side of North Aurelius Road, north of Mt. Hope Road, is a great location for those seeking access to the Red Cedar River and the Lansing River Trail.
The spot features an ADA-compliant kayak and boat launch making for safe and easy trips in and out of the river. There’s also an accessible dock overlooking the river for fishing or for taking in the natural scenery.
On the south side of the landing there are thick woods and a lush marsh area full of wildlife like great blue herons, deer, various species of birds and more.
Kruger’s Landing can be reached via the river trail or you can park in the spacious lot. There’s a circle drop off in the lot for easy loading and unloading your water craft. A portable bathroom is located near the park’s entrance.
