Victoria Beckham Isn’t Joining the Spice Girls Reunion for 1 Simple Reason

As plans for a Spice Girls reunion tour emerged last year, there was one original member who declined to participate: Victoria Beckham. And while there was lots of speculation about why Posh Spice didn’t really wanna zig-a-zig-a, the real reason she won’t be a part of the reunion is completely understandable. According to fellow Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm, aka Mel C./Sporty Spice, Beckham doesn’t like performing.

Chisholm, 45, opened up during a visit to Jay Rayner’s Out to Lunch podcast about the reunion tour and shed light on her 44-year-old former bandmate’s decision to opt out of the much anticipated reunion tour.

“She just doesn’t have that love of performing, and in fact, it completely petrifies her. I’m sure there are many reasons,” Sporty Spice began. “She’s extremely busy and successful in what she’s doing. She has put her heart and soul into her business, and…to step away from that, and…not give it the time that she does at the moment would be difficult.”

Post–Spice Girls Beckham went on to launch her eponymous fashion line, Victoria Beckham, which has become wildly successful. Even Meghan Markle is a fan. But that’s not the only reason she said thanks but no thanks to the tour.

Chisholm went on to explain Beckham’s main reason for staying out of the spotlight is simple: “I’m sure, if she felt passionate about being on stage and loved it, then she’d be there. We’re all very sensitive of that, and we completely understand.”

It seems that Posh Spice actually gets stage fright, which totally makes sense.

So how do the rest of the Spice Girls feel about this? “We’re all sad that Victoria won’t be joining us, but it’s all genuinely very supportive you know, obviously understand and support her,” Chisholm said.

Sure, we’d rather spice up our lives with all five Spice Girls, but we fully support of you doing you, Victoria.
