What to Do If You’ve Got 5 Hours in LA, According to ‘Welcome to Plathville’s Olivia Plath
Following her divorce from Ethan Plath in early 2024, Olivia Plath relocated to Los Angeles for a new start. The Welcome to Plathville star said the move has been a "breath of fresh air" in her life—and recently, she dished on her favorite LA spots during an exclusive interview with Parade.
"I feel like in many ways, moving to a really big hectic city actually made my life more peaceful," Olivia, 26, explained. "And I think that's a lot more of like who I was spending time with and what was taking up like my emotional capacity. But I feel like moving to LA was just a big breath of fresh air."
Best Things to Do in Los Angeles If You’ve Only Got 5 Hours
1. Visit the Griffith Observatory
If someone only had five hours to spend in the Los Angeles area, Olivia suggested they "get out of LA a little bit" and drive toward Burbank There, they could visit the Griffith Observatory, which is free.
"You get beautiful views of LA driving through the hills of Burbank," she explained. "There's so many like cute little local places."
2. Head to Malibu
From there, Olivia recommended driving toward Malibu. "You can hit the ocean in time for like a sunset. You can get an In-N-Out burger and then be right back at the airport," she noted. "And you've done like a nice little loop and you've seen some of the city views, but also like gotten out and enjoyed the hills and the ocean."

3. Hit an LA Hotspot
For those who have a bit more time to enjoy LA, Olivia said one of her favorite restaurants, The Edmon near Larchmont, is an excellent option.
"Anytime like I'm getting together with friends or having like a celebration or something, we always go there," she shared. "They've got like a fun cocktail menu. They've got fun, little like tapas-style plates and then a nice patio outdoors. And you can have your dogs out there and everything."
4. Stop by The Grove
As far as shopping is concerned, Olivia said she enjoys hitting up The Grove. "There's so much right there," she said. "But parking is kind of expensive and not that fun. So welcome to LA parking."
5. Grab a Matcha
One hidden gem she discovered is a coffee and tea shop called Community Goods.
"It's so tiny that there's always like lines out the door," Olivia explained. "But stillI feel like most people don't know about it and they have such good matcha. I always tell people about that place. Like they should absolutely go there."

6. Picnic at the Beach
For relaxing in LA, Olivia said she enjoys spending time at the beach once a week (or at least twice a month)—although, she noted that "most people who live here don't go to the beach because it's so accessible."
"I take a book. I take a picnic. I just, I stay out there for like as long as I can," she shared. "I want to see the sunset. I might do a short little hike on the cliffs. I absolutely love being by the ocean."
Finally, Olivia reflected on some of her favorite memories of living on the West Coast, which happened during the first few weeks "when I was finding all of my local spots and I just kind of like dove right into whatever I wanted to do," she told Parade.
"I borrowed a surfboard from a friend and I met up with another mutual friend's friend and tried surfing and I found a local park and I would just take like my picnic blanket and read a book out there," Olivia recalled. "I found my local bakery that I got way too many treats from."
She added: "It was just kind of like finding my neighborhood. And when I think about my time in LA, those memories are so rosy."
Los Angeles-area-residents tuning into the upcoming season of Welcome to Plathville might recognize a few of the filming locations. The Minicucci Pilates studio is one of them, Olivia noted. Plus, she and her sister, Lydia Grace, went speed dating at The Belmont.
Welcome to Plathville Season 6 premieres on Tuesday, July 16, at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
