Uzo Aduba Announces Birth and Name of First Child
Uzo Aduba
Uzo Aduba is officially a mom!
The 42-year-old actress revealed she welcomed a baby girl with husband Robert Sweeting on Thursday, Nov. 30.
"My daughter. I’ve never been in love so quickly, so deeply in my entire life," she wrote via Instagram. "I really don’t know what to say, guys. My heart is full. Thank you, God."
The Orange is the New Black alum's statement continued, "I have joy like a fountain. I have witnessed a miraculous thing, and I feel blessed to know you are ours. We love you so much, Adaiba Lee Nonyem - Daughter of the people, treasurer of the mother’s names who came before you."
"I’m a Mommy you guys," Aduba wrote in disbelief. "Motherhood. I’ve joined the club. I hear the dues are high, but the membership is completely worth it:). #grateful."
The Painkiller actress first announced she was pregnant at the 2023 Tony Awards this past June.
She must've taken a page out of the same book Serena Williams and Karlie Kloss read, as Aduba unveiled her bump and the joyous news simply by showing up in an orange suit by Christian Siriano.
"The happy couple is over the moon about their growing family and are excited to be parents," a source told People at the time.
The Orange Is the New Black alum and her husband secretly said "I do" in 2020, and in the three years since, Aduba has kept much of their relationship private, albeit she has no problem gushing over Sweeting every now and then.
In September, she shared a glimpse at their traditional Nigerian wedding ceremony alongside a heartfelt caption which read: "This day meant so much to us. You have made my entire life better, more full. I am so thankful our souls found each other. I’ve loved sharing every step of this journey with you, @robertsweetinglife and cannot wait to experience new chapters, next chapters, new pathways with you. I love you so much. Thank you also for loving me. So much."
Congrats to the new parents!
