Usain Bolt's 5 Best Sports Moments
Usain Bolt, the legendary sprinter and Olympian, has announced his retirement from professional athletics.
“The sports life is over,” Bolt told Reuters this week. “I’m now moving into different businesses. I have a lot of things in the pipeline, so as I say, I’m just dabbling in everything and trying to be a businessman now.”
“Lightning Bolt,” a nine-time gold medalist and perhaps the greatest sprinter of all time, ran his last race in 2017, but had attempted a world football career, once stating that it was his dream to play for Manchester United. After struggling during his brief stint with the Central Coast Mariners of Australia’s A-League, he left the team in November-and now, he says, he’s leaving both the track and the pitch behind.
“It was a good experience,” the 32-year-old Jamaican told Reuters of his soccer stint. “I really enjoyed just being in a team and it was most different from track and field and it was fun while it lasted.”
If his retirement sticks, it will mark the conclusion of one of the greatest, most storied careers in sports and Olympic history. In honor of the record-breaking runner’s retirement, here’s a rundown of some of his best racing moments:
His retirement caps a truly incredible career.
