USA Renews ‘Suits’ for a Ninth (and Final) Season
It’s been eight years since the USA network blessed us with Suits (and Meghan Markle). And now, the popular legal drama is hanging up its tie…for good.
In honor of tonight’s midseason premiere, the network renewed the series for a ninth (and final) season. Suits’ last hoorah will consist of a ten-episode installment, which is expected to premiere later this year.
We can’t say we’re surprised by the news, considering the show’s creator, Aaron Korsh, is currently developing a spin-off series starring Gina Torres (Jessica Pearson).
In a statement, the showrunner thanked fans for their continued support, saying, “To the fans who have stuck with the Suits family through thick and thin, through can-openers and flashbacks—thank you for always speaking your mind. Without you, I might start to think I’m getting the hang of this writing thing. And once that happens, nobody wins. I look forward to enraging and hopefully sometimes delighting you with the final episodes.”
Suits originally premiered in 2011 and starred Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter), Rick Hoffman (Louis Litt), Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen), Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross) and Markle (Rachel Zane).
BRB, rewatching the series from season one.
