Urgent: There Might Be a Candy Hearts Shortage This Valentine's Day
Very important update! The iconic company that made candy hearts for Valentine's Day, Necco, shut down this year after being sold to another candy manufacturer, which is really fricken' sad.

In May, Necco was bought out by Round Hill Investments LLC during a bankruptcy auction for 17.3 million dollars, per The Globe. The company said in a statement they were "very excited to acquire Necco's historic brands" and "be part of their national resurgence." However, Round Hill decided to sell Necco to another candy manufacturer and close operations at the plant in Massachusetts after the owner complained he wasn't clued in about sanitation issues.

But don't freak out just yet. Fortune reports Spangler Candy Co., the company that took over the rights to Necco's iconic brands, confirmed the company and its iconic hearts would return in 2020.
And if 2020 seems way too far away for you, the company Brach's continues to sell basically the exact same product. So all is not lost, and Valentine's is officially saved.
