Urban Paws Pet Spa to hold grand opening for new location

Urban Paws Pet Spa has been at its new Marysville location since October, but its staff is now ready to fully celebrate the move with a grand opening next month.

Owner Jenny Wagar said Urban Paws Pet Spa moved because the business needed more space. She said a big focus with the salon is to provide a stress-free environment for its animal clients. The previous location was quite small, with the drying and bathing spaces in the same room. She said the new space is much bigger and allows for a calm environment.

"We work with a lot of anxious dogs, so we really place a focus on keeping a stress-free environment for them," Wagar said.

Wagar said the grand opening was delayed to the summer because when the salon moved, there was still some construction that needed to be done. She said the main components have been completed, so it now feels like a good time to hold the grand opening.

The new location has separate rooms for drying and bathing. The bathing station has four baths, where the previous location had two. Additionally, the new location has a custom-built bathing station that can accommodate larger dogs, which was not available at the old location.

Urban Paws Pet Spa is located at 1160 Gratiot Blvd. in Marysville.

The grand opening is planned to take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on June 27. Wagar said the first 20 customers that come in that day will receive free nail trimming services, with the very first customer also receiving a gift certificate for a free grooming service.

The business did not move far. Wager said they moved two doors down from the previous location. She said customers are usually surprised by the new space because of how big it is compared to the previous location. Wager said her customer base has tripled since moving.

"We've grown tremendously since opening," she said.

Wager said her clients, both human and animal, seem very happy with the new space.

Urban Paws Pet Spa focuses on providing care to all kinds of dogs, but especially larger breeds and dogs with medical issues. Wagar said services the salon provides includes haircuts, nail trimmings and basic grooming needs. The salon also provides cat grooming services.
