This Unexpected Ingredient Makes Martha Stewart's Meatballs Unbelievably Good
With Valentine’s Day only a couple of weeks away, you may want to start brainstorming what you’re going to do for that special holiday dinner. While many will opt to go out to their favorite restaurant, there’s nothing quite like a home-cooked meal, because food is certainly one of the best ways to show the people you love just how much you care. Comfort foods are always a hit, like pizza or pasta, but if you’re planning on whipping up a noteworthy dish, elaborate isn’t always better.
A classic spaghetti and meatballs will certainly do the trick — and it’s always a crowd-pleaser. However, one of our favorite kitchen mavens, Martha Stewart, just revealed her secret ingredient that will take your meatballs up a notch (and make them extra crispy).
The hospitality star adds cremini mushrooms to her beef mixture and promises that this will make the meatballs the star of the show. In a recent Instagram post, the creator writes, “We use a combination of chopped cremini mushrooms and ground beef, which creates a light, textured meatball that gets super crispy. A quick blast in the broiler gives them a nice crust — and the non-crispy parts soak up all that delicious sauce.”
According to the detailed recipe, the meatballs should go into the broiler first for about five minutes before being transferred over to the skillet. Serve over spaghetti with your homemade sauce, cheese, red pepper flakes, and parsley for a meal that will go straight to your lover’s heart (stomach).
Commenters on the post were loving the idea and singing its praises, including some who have tried the concoction themselves. “Just made meatballs and spaghetti yesterday. It was so good!” said one user.
If only we could have Stewart come over to cook for us herself, but following her recipes will just have to do.
