Um, Prince Charles Once Sent Barbra Streisand Flowers & She Just Spilled All the Details
Barbra Streisand, Princess of Wales? At one point, it certainly could have been possible, according to the 79-year-old singer.
Following Prince Charles’s recent interview with The Times—during which he shared “special memories” of his friendship with the actress—Streisand opened up about meeting the Princes of Wales almost 50 years ago (and the flowers he sent her following their encounter).
“He asked to meet me, so he came to the recording studio,” she told U.K. presenter Ross King, per People. “I offered him a sip of tea and I thought, ‘They didn't have to test me for poison or something? No.’ We became friends, and I loved spending some time at Highgrove for a weekend fundraiser and going through his gardens.”
Not long after the meet-cute, the A Star Is Born actress was delivered a bouquet of flowers to her hotel room during a trip to London. Streisand then asked her assistant where they came fro:. “I said, ‘Who sent me that?’ and she said, ‘A fan called Charles.’ And I said, ‘Really? Let me see the note’—and there was his seal. And they weren't like from a florist because they were from his gardens, and it's a different look.” That’s right—hand-cut flowers from the palace garden.
It seems nothing ever happened between the duo. “I had a very funny line on stage when he came to see [my] show,” Streisand continued. “I said, ‘You know, if I played my cards right, I could have wound up being the first Jewish princess!’”
Now that would have been something else.
