Two Sisters Kitchen + Bar to open on Wednesday
Sep. 17—ORONOCO, Minn. — It took a little longer than expected, but Two Sisters Kitchen + Bar is officially opening its doors on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Following a few test run-throughs last week, sisters Diane Osland and Lori Melhorn plan to open the doors of Two Sisters Kitchen at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The new restaurant is located at 1251 Cedar Center Ave. SE, just north of the Oronoco Gas 'N Go convenience store.
"We're excited ... super excited to get going," said Osland.
The restaurant has a team of 37 employees. They are also still looking to hire bartenders and baristas.
Two Sisters will serve lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. It will open at 8 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to serve breakfast in addition to lunch and dinner. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
While the restaurant is ready to open, the attached café is still being finished up. They hope to launch the café with a drive-thru in early October.
"We're working on the online ordering for the drive-thru. That is taking longer to get up and running than we expected," said Melhorn. "We need that because we don't have a squawk box outside to take orders."
The menu is described as a mixture of traditional, made-from-scratch American fare with steak and salmon burgers as well as soup and sandwiches with an emphasis on some favorite Minnesota comfort foods.
"Hot dish will always be on the menu," added Melhorn.
The 5,800-square-foot French Industrial-style restaurant can seat 146 diners with room for 36 more on the patio. Two Rochester firms, CRW Architecture + Design Group and Benike Construction, designed and built the complex.
