Tulle Was a Festival Fashion Favorite at Afropunk 2019
The breezy fabric is a stylish, smart choice for a weekend of outdoor music.
We may be gearing up for an entire month of street style outside of the Spring 2020 shows in September, but that doesn't mean that the fashion coming from this summer's music festival circuit is slowing down anytime soon. In fact, Afropunk 2019, which wrapped over the weekend in Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park had some of the best outfits we've seen all season.
A favorite among the crowd was using tulle to create a bold yet ethereal look. The breezy, sheer fabric is a stylish (and smart!) choice for a weekend of outdoor music; it's also something we spotted at Coachella earlier this spring. Influencer and makeup artist Isoken Enofe-Asemota stood out in sea of "Yeehaw" looks with her pink tulle dress from Oyemwen. (The blue ensemble in the photo above is also by the Nigerian-American designer.)
If you're looking to end your summer with a sartorial bang, then we suggest taking some fashion tips from Afropunk. See all of our favorite street style looks in the gallery below.
