Trump reportedly doesn't follow diet and exercise plan 'religiously,' and people aren't shocked
It’s no secret that President Trump loves fast food. During the government shutdown, he even bragged about having the Clemson Tigers’ White House visit “catered” by McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King and Domino’s Pizza. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the president hasn’t “religiously” followed his doctor’s orders to go on a diet and exercise more frequently, as one White House official told CNN.
“The president received a diet and exercise plan last year after his annual physical, but the president admits he has not followed it religiously,” said Hogan Gidley, the principal deputy White House press secretary.
The internet was quick to criticize Trump for his reportedly unhealthy lifestyle. One quote in particular from an interview the president did last year really stuck out to people.
“I get exercise. I mean I walk, I this, I that,” Trump told Reuters. “I run over to a building next door. I get more exercise than people think.”
"I mean, I get exercise. I walk, I this, I that," remains one of my all-time favorite Trump quotes. Clearly, he has stuck to that regime. https://t.co/2RExczlvYq

Trump believes that exercise is bad for your health, wears suits that don't fit, and ties that are too long because he thinks it makes him look thinner.

His love of Diet Coke inevitably came up too. The New York Times reported in 2017 that the president drinks as many as 12 Diet Cokes each day.

Trump already had way too many Diet Cokes and too much Executive time today. Should be an interesting morning.

Others thought Trump’s avoidance of exercise and indulging in some cheat days on his diet was pretty relatable, though.
trump's dislike of exercise is maybe the most relatable thing about him, to me: "I get exercise. I mean I walk, I this, I that," Trump said. "I run over to a building next door. I get more exercise than people think."

Which means Trump has done exactly what the overwhelming majority of people do with diet and excercise plans…not follow them religiously.

A 2017 New Yorker article that said Trump “professes a fondness for steak and McDonald’s” also revealed that “other than golf, he considers exercise misguided, arguing that a person, like a battery, is born with a finite amount of energy.” As of December 2017, he had spent 168 days at his golf properties since taking office, according to NBC News, but it’s unclear how many days he actually spent golfing.
