Tristan Thompson's Failed Drug Test Lands Him Lengthy Game Suspension

Tristan Thompson has been suspended from over a dozen NBA games after reportedly violating the professional sports league's anti-drug policy.

On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the basketball association confirmed Thompson had been suspended without pay for 25 games in a statement, which explained his suspension is set to begin with tomorrow (Jan. 24) night's Cleveland Cavaliers game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to the NBA's official release, the 32-year-old NBA player, who shares two children with on-again-off-again ex Khloe Kardashian, was cited for "violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program by testing positive for ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033 [or Ligandrol]."

Ibutamoren reportedly "increases the levels of Human Growth Hormone (hGH) in the body," and it has been banned in both national and international professional sport markets due in part to its dangerous side effects which include swelling, anxiety, numbness and muscle pain, among many others.

Similarly, ligandrol was designed to help promote fat burning in addition to muscle and strength building. This bodybuilding drug, which has been studied as a potential cancer treatment, was also banned from use in national and international professional sports leagues due in part to the chemical's side effects, which are listed as a potential increase in heart attack, stroke and liver damage.

The championship Cavs player—who first joined the team in 2011 before signing on with the Celtics in 2020 and going on to have stints on the Sacramento Kings as well as the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers—has not yet publicly addressed the suspension.
