Architectural designer, author and TV personality John Gidding is best known for hosting the HGTV home-renovation shows “Curb Appeal,” “Curb Appeal Xtreme” and “Designed to Sell.” He’ll speak about his new book, "At Home with Nature, a Guide to Sustainable, Natural Landscaping.” Noon Sunday, July 30. 3. Book Walk at Lehigh Acres’ Veterans Park

In this ongoing exhibit, park guests can read a rotating series of bilingual picture books displayed along the walking path by the Veterans Park tennis courts and playground. Pages from each bilingual book (Spanish and English) appear on aluminum stands. A community event celebrating the new Book Walk takes place 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 29. It includes crafts, giveaways and a scavenger hunt. Free. Book Walk is a collaboration between the Lee County Library System and Lee County Parks & Recreation. The New York City jazz pianist and vocalist kicks off a series of summer concerts at Arts Bonita (the new name for the Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs). He’ll perform smooth, soulful interpretations of tunes from the Great American Songbook. 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29. $42-$49. 5. “Joan Sonnenberg: A Retrospective” exhibit

Last chance to see this exhibit of work by 92-year-old Southwest Florida artist Joan Sonnenberg. Her paintings depict mundane, decaying objects; wall graffiti; street people and more. The monthly event in downtown Fort Myers features new art exhibits at downtown galleries, receptions, live music and art vendors outside on First Street. This month’s exhibits include the vibrant, intricate paintings of Brian Weaver (half of local mural-painting duo Artsemble Underground) at Davis Art Center and the stream-of-consciousness art prints of Michael V.
