Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Have Donated Their Blood in Hopes of a Coronavirus "Hank-ccine"

America’s dad, Tom Hanks, recently recovered from the coronavirus alongside his wife Rita Wilson. Now, the actor is joining the global fight against COVID-19.
In a rather Mr. Rogers-esque move, Hanks reportedly sent a child who’d written him a letter about being bullied due to his name (Corona) one of his prized typewriters. Now, Hanks and Wilson are taking a more concrete step to ending the pandemic: They’re donating blood.
During an interview with NPR’s Wait, Wait … Don’t Tell Me!, Hanks said that he and his wife are donating both their blood and plasma in the hopes of aiding the creation of a vaccine — or, as the Oscar-winner jokingly called it, a “Hank-ccine.”

Hanks also opened up about how he’s been staying busy since returning to the U.S. to quarantine. “I find that something different has happened about every 20 minutes,” he said. “I've done the Marie Kondo-izing of much of my life, I must say.”
