Toddler Poses for Ellen Show-Themed Cake Smash and It's More Than a Little Fun
There isn't anyone who doesn't break into a smile (and maybe break out some dance moves) when the theme song from the "Ellen" show comes on. This includes Connecticut-based photographer Ute-Christin Cowan, who has been a longtime fan of the talk show. Cowan is such a huge admirer of DeGeneres because says the star helped her rise above the challenges she met when she came to the United States as an au pair 17 years ago. "Her show was always the highlight of my day and got me through it all. Whenever I needed a laugh, I turned to her show," Cowan said.
To take her Ellen-session to the next level, Cowan recently put together a cake smash themed around the hilarious host. "I thought it would be super fun to do an Ellen-inspired cake smash to honor her," she said.

"This was a very special set-up for me because I wanted to show my love and appreciation for her, and the show," Cowan explained about how the inspiration for the set came together. "My baker, Jade Ramos, helped me by creating the sign." She also wanted to incorporate DeGeneres' DJ, Stephen Boss, A.K.A. tWitch. "He is an important part of the show," she explained.

Cowan ordered an Ellen onesie online and then matched the balloon colors to the outfit. Her set colors of soft blue and bright white were also an homage to the show's set.

A little girl named Ariella, whom Cowan previously photographed, was on hand to don the Ellen onesie, a matching fluffy tutu, and, of course, to gleefully smash the cake. But the photographer said, "She was not super interested in the cake, but rather obsessed with eating Ellen mugs and a miniature Ellen." Typical!

Cowan joked that Ariella "kept crawling off the set and tried to escape." Why is it babies never want to cooperate? Oh, because they're babies!

To keep things fun, Cowan kept playing the show's theme song, and that did the trick to keep Ariella in one spot. Guess she likes Pink, who sings the theme, "Today's the Day."

It turns out the little girl's parents are also huge DeGeneres fans, so they greatly enjoyed watching their daughter on the set. A highlight of the adorable photoshoot was when Ariella put the entire Ellen doll in her mouth!

Cowan hopes today's the day (see what we did there?) people will have fun looking at the photos, and also remember to be kind to others, a message DeGeneres has long been espousing. It seems her goal may be realized, as the photos of the cake smash have gone viral, even prompting a social media callout from DeGeneres herself, who posted an image on Facebook and Twitter along with the caption, "This is my kind of party."
It's ours, too!
