Tiffany Blue Taxis Are Coming to New York City
To celebrate the launch of Tiffany & Co's new jewelry collection Paper Flowers, New Yorkers will find their commute delightfully upgraded this week. Select yellow taxi cabs and subway stations have been painted the trademark robin's egg blue, with Tiffany-branded MetroCards also up for grabs for a few lucky riders.
The launch, which is Chief Artistic Officer Reed Krakoff's first jewelry collection for the brand, was inspired by Audrey Hepburn and "the juxtaposition of wearing a floor length gown and a tiara while holding a paper bag with coffee and a pastry," Krakoff told Vogue. The New York celebration speaks to how luxury can still be casual, and the launch even includes performances by BMX riders and skateboarders.
For those looking to do their best Holly Golightly impersonation, Tiffany Blue coffee carts are serving up complimentary brews and croissants. Bodegas throughout Manhattan are also dressed up with blue awnings and blue buckets of paper flowers handmade by the Tiffany creative team. Just grab your oversized sunglasses and check the brand's custom Google Map to find all of the seven participating locations.
The paper flowers have a short blooming season, as all of the locations will lose the blues on May 4, ushered out by a surprise performance at the flagship store that will be broadcast on social media at 9 p.m. EST the night before.
