Work can be hard, and it's often not fun (my boomer parents like to say 'that's why they call it work' ??). However sometimes, it can feel way more difficult than it ever needs to be — and that's when getting guidance from a therapist can make an enormous difference.
So if you've ever gotten some advice in therapy that made it easier to get through the work day and enjoy your life, we want to hear from you.
Maybe you tend to run a bit hot and cold — one day, you're powering through your to-do list with the power of a thousand nitro cold brews and you feel invincible. But the next you can barely open a new tab and you constantly worried that you were going to get fired. Your therapist helped you figure out new ways to work with the ebb and flow of your energy instead of against it, and now you feel more confident that you can get everything done without beating yourself up.
Or perhaps you finally landed what you thought was your "dream job," only to realize a few months later that you were completely miserable. You started to spiral a bit from there and found yourself wondering if you could ever be happy if you weren't satisfied with what you already had. When you finally made it in to therapy, your therapist helped you figure out what it would take to make you happier and how to ask your boss for it. Things didn't change overnight, but they did eventually, and your therapist helped you find hope in the meantime.
Or maybe you were having trouble with an overbearing and very negative boss. At first, it was just little things here and there, but eventually you started obsessing over every single unpleasant interaction. First, your therapist gave you some new coping methods that helped you break the cycle of rumination, and then they helped you find the courage to make a change. Now, you work for a different company with a boss who treats you with respect and kindness.
