The Underground Georgian Label Bella Hadid Wore During Paris Haute Couture Week
When we said Tbilisi, Georgia, was quickly becoming a fashion hot spot for emerging talent, we weren’t kidding.
Bella Hadid, who is usually seen clad in designer garb such as Givenchy or Christian Dior, was spotted wearing not one but two pieces by the underground Georgian label Situationist during Paris Haute Couture Week.
Above, Hadid wore a long-sleeved, floor-length black leather trench coat by Situationist. Hadid wore her coat off the shoulder, which is an ultra-on-trend styling technique popularized by another Georgian designer, Demna Gvasalia.

In just a few short years, Gvasalia has become one of the biggest names in the fashion industry — he’s the head designer and founder of Vetements and the creative director of Balenciaga — and is largely credited with putting the small Eurasian country of Georgia on the fashion map, paving the way for other emerging labels, like Situationist, to be recognized.
On a second outing in Paris, Hadid paired Situationist’s light beige thigh-high boots with a sheer black top, a bomber jacket, and a miniskirt.
Both the leather coat and the thigh-high boots are from Situationist’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection that debuted in November 2016 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi.
Situationist was created by Irakli Rusadze in 2015. The label bears a resemblance to the high-end counterculture brand Vetements, whose off-kilter perspective on high-fashion has created an unstoppable obsession within the fashion community.
The rebellious nature of the Situationist collection comes from the international group it got its name from. The Situationists were a group of international social rebels formed in the late 1950s who were influenced by Dadaism, surrealism, and Marxism. The group consisted mainly of artists, intellectuals, and political philosophers.
The revolutionary nature of the group is reflected in the Situationist label’s unconventional approach to fashion. Our recommendation? Keep your eyes peeled for this brand. We’re projecting another Vetements outbreak with this one.
