Texas Man Confesses to Shooting Multiple Women Drivers
A 29-year-old man from Texas admitted to five separate road rage incidents in which he shot at women drivers from his Ford Explorer, according to Harris County court documents. Police officials involved in the investigation believe the man, Nicholas D'Agostino, was randomly targeting women drivers because he has "a very dim view of women."
D'Agostino was arrested Thursday in connection with two recent shootings in Katy, Texas-just outside of Houston. The arrest came after two women told police they were shot after driving near D'Agostino's home. Once in police custody, D'Agostino further admitted to several previous road rage incidents over the past few months, all of which involved shootings targeted at women.
According to court documents, D'Agostino was arrested in March for allegedly shooting a woman in the arm as she drove out of a gas station. At the time, D'Agostino told authorities he did it-but only because the woman swerved her vehicle toward him, and he shot her to stop the threat.
But now police believe D'Agostino's behavior isn't defensive at all. In court documents, police say they've seen rants posted by D'Agostino on Facebook, in which he complains about "incompetent" female drivers, whose "sole purpose is to give birth to male children." The investigating officers now believe D'Agostino is responsible for at least five random shootings that have plagued the Katy, Texas area just this year.
While D'Agostino was previously released from jail on a $75,000 bond, he is now back in custody, held on two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The bail for each of those charges is set at $200,000, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. He's due to appear in court in early September.
