Texas Fire Department Celebrates 15 Babies Born Within A Year
There’s a baby boom at the fire department in Waxahachie, Texas.
After the Waxahachie Fire-Rescue Department welcomed 15 kids—seven boys and eight girls—in just the last year, people are wondering if it’s simply a sweet coincidence, or if there’s something greater at work in the Dallas suburb.
Not surprisingly, the idea that there’s “something in the water” at the fire station has become a bit of a running joke. “Don’t drink the water at the Waxahachie Fire Department,” a caption of a group photo of all the new dads—a fourth of the entire crew—reads on Facebook.
“Definitely not planned,” firefighter wife Allison Duwe, who captured the now-viral snap, told CBS DFW. “It just happened.”
Jokes aside, sharing 15 little ones has brought the men and their wives closer together.

“It does play well into family life,” firefighter Jay Wilemon told CBS. “We all pretty much share the same problems, concerns, joys on the home front and then we come to work and get to share that with our second family.”
“It’s inevitable they’re going to be friends,” Marcus Brown added.
