On Tuesday, Swift was spotted in a chic pair of Jimmy Choo pumps while leaving new Greek restaurant Paros — located in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood — with Jack Antonoff. The Grammy Award-winning musician’s $2,450 style, which hailed from Choo’s viral collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier, featured a classic smooth black leather base with pointed toes and closed counters. However, the timeless pair earned a sleek revamp from its heels: clear 4.3-inch wedges, which were laser-engraved with the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben for an artisanal touch.
While slick and sharp, Swift’s Choo wedges also smoothly merged two key 2020’s trends: classic minimalism and artistic heels. Sculptural heel shapes have been trending throughout the 2020’s, thanks to metallic and colorful silhouettes seen at brands including Loewe, Bottega Veneta and Kate Spade New York. Similarly, staple minimalist styles — like the classic black pump — have also grown in prominence as popularity’s increased for items that can be re-worn on multiple occasions for longer periods of time, as evidenced in versatile new pairs from brands including Ferragamo, Sam Edelman and Coach, among numerous others.

Swift used her sculptural wedges as a versatile outfit base, similarly to their stiletto-heeled cousins. The “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” musician paired the sharp heels with Stella McCartney’s $2,900 belted coat and matching $975 miniskirt, each crafted from brown and black plaid tweed. Swift’s attire was simply finished with a black top, sheer black tights and a maroon leather crossbody handbag — plus matching lipstick — for a tonal outfit that utilized textures and dark colors for a cozy winter flair.
The musician’s outing preceded her latest editorial honor, shared online on Wednesday: she was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2023. In the new cover story by Sam Lansky, Swift dove into the worldwide impact of her ongoing Eras Tour, as well as the deeper meaning behind her songwriting process, rerecording her first five albums and dating football star Travis Kelce.
“Trash takes itself out every single time,” Swift stated when asked about her conflicts in pop culture with other musicians and executives during her career.
