Taylor Swift Took Fireball Whiskey Shots at Surprise Show

Around 40 people who had settled in for a cozy pre-Easter concert at Nashville’s Bluebird Café got a pleasant surprise: Taylor Swift showed up to play a set—and took a couple shots of Fireball whisky with the headlining performer. And no, this is not a late April Fools’ joke.

As USA Today reports, Craig Wiseman was supposed to be the featured musician at the intimate show, but Swift, with whom Wiseman has been friends for at least a decade, decided to stop by to take part in a documentary about the café’s 35th anniversary.

Armed with her guitar, Swift first played an acoustic rendition of her beloved pop song "Shake It Off" before Wiseman began reminiscing about the pair’s past antics.

He recalled another show the pair had played together, at a CMT afterparty, during which he kept passing the pop star shots of Fireball. Wiseman then produced a mug from which he pulled several small bottles of the cinnamon-flavored whiskey.

“For old-times sake," he quipped.

"Should we play another song?" Swift replied, turning to the audience. "Did you want to hear music tonight or did you want to hear about CMT afterparties?"

Swift did end up taking the shots with Wiseman—straight out of the bottle. Wiseman took the empty bottle from Swift and joked that he was going to sell it and donate the money to charity.

Swift had one more story to tell the audience: According to her recollection, she and Wiseman had their first songwriting session together when she was just 17. She brought a few ideas with her to show him, but they ended up working on a different project. Still, Swift remembers wanting to keep nurturing her own ideas, so she went home and wrote one of her most famous songs to date—without the help of Wiseman.

“This is the song I almost wrote with Craig Wiseman," she said. "It's called 'Love Story.'"

Good thing she didn’t give up.
