Taylor Swift Honors Lana Del Rey During Her Album of the Year Acceptance Speech

Taylor Swift added another record to her vast catalog with this year's Grammys wins, but she was more focused on her friend and fellow songwriter, Lana Del Rey, when accepting the award.

The superstar was nominated for six categories: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Anti-Hero," Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year for Midnights, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Karma" featuring Ice Spice.

By the end of the night, she'd taken home her 13th and 14th Grammys, as well as a major broken record with her fourth Album of the Year win—making her the first artist in history to receive the honor that many times.

She glossed over that fact, though, after Celine Dion shocked the audience with a surprise appearance to present the award, instead dragging her fellow nominee and Midnights collaborator on stage with her, where she made a heartfelt speech about the "Snow on the Beach" feature's impact on the industry.

The Eras Tour artist, clearly flabbergasted by the win, shouted out her “once in a generation producer” Jack Antonoff and several other key members of the production team before calling on Del Rey, who remained at the back of the stage to give Swift her moment.

“I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration that they have if not for the work that she’s done. I think she’s a legacy artist—a legend in her prime right now.”

Swift added, “I would love to tell you that this is the best moment of my life, but I feel this happy when I finish a song, or when I crack the code to a bridge that I love, or when I’m shot-listing a music video or when I’m rehearsing with my dancers, or my band, or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show."

She continued, "For me, the award is the work. All I wanna do is keep being able to do this. I love it so much, it makes me so happy. It makes me unbelievably blown away that it makes some people happy who voted for this award, too. All I wanna do is keep doing this, so thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do what I love so much."

The "Paris" songstress has had fans abuzz for months now due to her record-breaking Eras Tour—fondly dubbed the "Errors Tour" by fans—and various other nominations, including Best Original Song at the 2023 Golden Globes.

Not to mention her integration into NFL culture ever since she went public with Travis Kelce back in Sept., leading to an influx of attention on the Kansas City Chiefs. According to the team's CEO Clark Hunt, the team's "female audience has grown leaps and bounds" as a result.

Much to the disappointment of those who hoped to see the couple make their red carpet debut, Swift arrived solo earlier this evening, as the tight end is already headed to Las Vegas to prepare for the Super Bowl. She stunned in an elegant black and white ensemble that many suspected may be a nod to an upcoming announcement for reputation (Taylor's Version), but which ended up being a nod to a brand new era altogether: her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department.

She likely won't be showing it off at any after parties this evening, despite her big win—rumor has it she's hopping on a flight to Tokyo immediately following the awards, entering crunch time ahead of her first Eras Tour date in several months on Feb. 7.

She wraps her time in Japan on Feb. 10, where we suspect she'll hop right back onto that plane to make it back stateside in time to see the Chiefs take on the 49ers in the Super Bowl on Feb. 11.
