Target Has Added A Badge To Its Website And App To Help You Support Black-Owned Brands
By now you probably have a list of Black-owned businesses that you're committing to give your support to now and in the future. And while lists are great (we should know, we've made a few!) having these products more visible and available in stores makes a huge difference in how a majority of people will spend their dollars. While some retailers are committing to things like the 15 percent pledge, others are using things like their apps and websites to better highlight and amplify Black-owned products from businesses already on their platforms.
PopSugar recently spotted that Target has added a badge to identify some of its Black-owned or Black-founded brands especially in the beauty section. This badge can be found on the "At A Glance" section underneath products and shows off other distinctions, too, like when something is gluten-free or vegan. Some Black-owned food brands like Partake Foods Cookies and BLK & Bold Coffee are now also sporting the label as of this writing
We reached out to Target for comment on when and if this will be rolling out to all sections of the site and a spokesperson told us:
"We have carried a number of Black-owned brands for years and continue to listen to guests to ensure we offer a compelling and relevant assortment that supports our guests’ needs. Based on what our guests are searching for, we have started to implement icons online to help our guests find and support Black-owned brands and founders when they shop online."
