Taking a nature break might help you get a break from the heat this summer
CALDWELL, WV (WVNS) – As it is getting hotter and hotter, many people are flocking to streams, lakes and rivers to help cool them off this summer.
However, there are other natural ways to find relief in the hot summer sun besides hitting the water.
Going to a forest or a mountain can give you some fresh air, as well as a break from the heat.

Greenbrier County Scout Day Camp Co-Director Emily Shirey told 59News how the Greenbrier State Forest has helped her campers and herself stay relatively cooler this week.
“We’ve been up here and it’s been 95 degrees,” said Shirey. “You walk under a tree and the temperature drops. It’s just amazing the difference the shade makes. So we try to keep in the shade as much as possible using tents and pop-ups, but being out in the woods versus being in the city or in town. It’s 10 degrees cooler here in the woods.”
She said the worst part about the weather in the forest is the humidity.
Aside from the shade of the trees, the camp set up cooling stations around the area to help kids stay hydrated and cooler.
