Taco Bell Fans Are ‘Very Happy’ Limited-Time Menu Item Is Coming Back: ‘About Time!’

Taco Bell fans were thrilled to learn that a beloved limited-time menu item will soon be returning—though the comeback sadly won’t last forever.

Markie_Devo announced the “delicious” menu item’s forthcoming return in a Friday, Oct. 4, post on Instagram. As the food blogger revealed, Taco Bell’s Double Decker Taco is slated to pop up on menus once again. The Double Decker Taco Supreme will also be available for a limited time.

Taco Bell initially introduced the Double Decker Taco as a temporary menu addition in 1995, when the fast food chain tapped former NBA players Shaquille O’Neal and Hakeem Olajuwon for a commercial promoting the new meal. The special item “holds a deep space in the hearts” of Taco Bell fans, the company acknowledged in a December 2023 press release announcing the item’s most recent return to menus in the U.S.

The Double Decker is comprised of a taco shell stuffed with beef, lettuce and cheddar cheese, all of which is wrapped in a bean-filled tortilla. The Supreme version also includes diced tomatoes and reduced-fat sour cream, according to Markie_Devo’s preview.

Both the Double Decker and the Supreme are expected to return to menus at Taco Bell locations throughout the U.S. starting on Thursday, Oct. 10.

While some Instagram users questioned how much the returning tacos would cost—a detail not included in the food blogger’s preview—the price point wasn’t a concern for everyone, as indicated by one fan who shared, “dude at this point I'd pay for it I hella miss this thing.”

Overall, fans were thrilled by the news, with one person revealing that they have “been wanting these to come back from the day they stopped selling them.”

“Very happy it’s officially back,” another fan said, adding that they hope Taco Bell will “just leave it on the menu” this time around.

“I remember these!! They were delicious!” one customer recalled as another exclaimed, “About time!”

“I don't know why they make these limited time items, they're so dang good!” another customer said.
