Support for Trump among black men doubles after Kanye's endorsement
In December 2016, people were flabbergasted to see Kanye West become one of the first celebrities to endorse then-President-elect Donald Trump weeks after he won the election.
Nearly 18 months later and West's increasingly controversial support of the US President appears to be holding sway – according to one poll, at least.
According to Reuters' weekly tracking poll, which measures approval on how "Donald Trump is handling his job as President", support for the president among black men doubled from 11 per cent during the week ending April 22 to 22 per cent in that which ended April 29. It's the highest approval ratings Trump's had from black men in that particular survey in 2018.
While West has always been vocal in his support of Trump, he posted a tweet advocating the president on April 21:
Thank you Kanye, very cool! https://t.co/vRIC87M21X

His support has been criticised among his fanbase, but in an interview with TMZ earlier this week Kanye continued, saying: "I just love Trump".
Trump nonetheless remains an unpopular choice among African American men – this week's survey shows his disapproval rate is at 71 per cent.
