Anyone quietly coveting Shea McGee's masterful methods that combine soft neutrals, natural materials, and classic details will soon have a new way to incorporate the interior designer's signature style into their home. Next month, the Studio McGee founder and Dream Home Makeover host will release her long-awaited line of faucets, accessories, vanities, lighting, and mirrors in a partnership with Kohler Co.
"I've been working with Kohler for a few years now on various projects, including my personal home," says McGee. "I also worked with them on the Netflix show, so we have collaborated on quite a few projects. At one point in 2021, we were looking at products, and someone on the Kohler team said, 'Wouldn't it be cool if there was a Studio McGee line?' Obviously, I said yes!"
McGee and her team hit the ground running that week, concepting and designing fixtures and pieces that spoke not only to her aesthetic but that of her devotees as well. Fans of McGee's subtly glamorous look can expect contemporary shapes with myriad classic details, including engraving and coining. "I love putting a fresh twist on classic design, and working with Kohler was incredible because they have these archives of decades-old pieces that we could draw inspiration from," McGee explains. "I love things that feel vintage but are done in a fresh and contemporary way." That sense of cool nostalgia pervades all six of her exclusive lines with the Wisconsin-based brand, which will celebrate 150 years in business in December.
"Of all the lines, the Castia bathroom faucets and accessories are my favorite," McGee says. "It was the first of many pieces that came together, and it helped inspire everything else. It incorporated all of the coning and the engraving details that I love without losing that sense of modernity." Castia's embrace of precision machine knurling, delicately stamped levers, and stacked connection points—all of which function as a love letter to the raw beauty of older pipe fittings—will be available to shop in stores on September 29 and online on October 2.
