Sting to Perform at Ralph Pucci International
Sting Meets Pucci: Sting will be storytelling and performing at Ralph Pucci International on Feb. 28, at Pucci’s annual benefit for Jazz House Kids.
The event, called “The Lowdown: Conversations with Christian,” once a year transforms Pucci’s 30,000-square-foot luxury furniture, lighting and art gallery at 44 West 18th Street in Manhattan into an intimate jazz club featuring virtuosic bassist Christian McBride engaging in conversation and performing with a different musical talent each time. McBride’s past special guests/jazz legends have been Norah Jones, Wynton Marsalis, Diana Krall, Laurie Anderson, Gregory Porter, John Pizzarelli and Esperanza Spalding.

McBride and Sting have collaborated frequently over the years, including on Sting’s albums “All This Time” and “Sacred Love,” McBride’s album “Conversations With Christian,” and for a number of live performances.
“Sting is a dear friend of mine and someone full of knowledge and wisdom,” said McBride. “I was honored to play bass on his album ‘All This Time’ and in his touring band and look forward to playing with him again in February.”
Pucci’s past Jazz Nights have raised well over $1 million for the Montclair, N.J.-based nonprofit Jazz House Kids, helping to provide scholarships and expand the program, which provides music education and performance opportunities for its students. McBride serves as artistic director of Jazz House Kids and his wife, Melissa Walker, is president and founder of Jazz House Kids. He is also artistic director of the Newport Jazz Festival, the New Jersey Performing Art Center’s TD James Moody Festival, and the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. Singer-songwriter, musician, actor and activist Sting is a 17-time Grammy winner. He’s sold 100 million albums from his combined work with The Police and as a solo artist.
