Steph Curry Is Starting a Book Club and He Wants You to Join

NBA star Steph Curry has been keeping busy in quarantine by practicing his basketball drills and making sure his skills stay on-point. But the Golden State Warrior is also all about keeping his mind sharp, and an important component in achieving that involves being a voracious reader.
In fact, Curry loves to read so much that he's just announced he's starting his own book club as part of his Underrated brand, with a focus on inspiring narratives by writers who might be overlooked in the wider cultural conversation. And he wants his fans to get involved.
"I think we all know that reading is knowledge, and I want to share with you guys my passion, this amazing opportunity that we're excited to launch," Curry said in an Instagram video this week.
"I'm teaming up with Literati to launch my own book club, it's called Underrated. I'm going to pick a book a month, highlighting stories about overcoming the odds and attaining success, amazing authors who might not be getting the opportunities and awareness in the publishing space that others are... Get ready for some dope stories, written by some incredible people."
It is perhaps fitting that Curry wants to use his platform to champion underdog stories; at the start of his college career he was overlooked by the Virginia Tech Hokies as he was considered too small to play pro basketball, but after being recruited by the Davidson College Wildcats, he went on to become one of the all-time greatest shooters in the NBA.
