Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer released – and an old villain returns
The final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the ninth film in George Lucas’s saga, has been released.
In the trailer, featuring Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren, the remaining forces of the Resistance battle the First Order for the final time.
The Rise of Skywalker will also star Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C3PO) and Ian McDiarmid, who is confirmed to return as the villain Palpatine.
The film will mark the final appearance – in the flesh – of the late Carrie Fisher.
Footage of Fisher, shot for 2015’s The Force Awakens and 2017’s The Last Jedi, will be repurposed for JJ Abrams’s film.
The Rise of Skywalker will arrive in British cinemas on December 19 and in America the following day.
It has already been delayed from its initial release date in May, after Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow withdrew from the project in 2018.
