Star Wars Lone Wolf And Cub TV Series Was Pitched By The Incredible Hulk Director

The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans, and Fast X director Louis Leterrier once pitched a Star Wars TV series to LucasFilm.

According to the director, the pitch was focused on creating a Star Wars show influenced by the lone wolf and cub trope, where a single adult must protect an innocent youngster in a hostile world.

The concept is directly taken from classic 1970s manga Lone Wolf and Cub, which focuses on a disgraced shogun’s executioner and his quest for revenge while protecting his infant son. The lone wolf and cub trope can be seen in games like The Last of Us, movies such as Leon and Children of Men, and comic book The Road to Perdition.

Letererrier said he wanted to focus on Obi-Wan’s mentoring of Luke Skywalker, as he joins the Jedi master during Star Wars: A New Hope. He also revealed that he was interested in a spin-off movie starring Boba Fett.

“I had my dream Star Wars idea a long time ago,” Leterrier told the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, as reported by CBR.com.

“I came to them and pitched it: ‘We should do a Star Wars TV show conceived as a lone wolf and cub.’ And they said, ‘Uh, we don’t know if that’s a great idea’. It was two things. I wanted to do the missing part between… basically before A New Hope when Obi-Wan takes Luke. I wanted to do that. But I was also very interested in the Boba Fett movie.”

While neither of those ideas came to fruition from Leterrier, Disney has since spun off multiple characters into their own TV shows, including Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett.

Leterrier is currently working on his next Fast and Furious movie, the eleventh in the series.
